CONTEXT

Assignment portraiture for Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Businessweek, Fortune and Fast Company — including the first Forbes cover to feature a mainland-China entrepreneur.

CHALLENGE

Ten minutes with a CEO, a borrowed boardroom, one case of lights. The portrait has to hold a magazine cover regardless.

APPROACH

One idea per frame. Build the light before the subject arrives, then spend every minute on the person, not the gear.

THE FIRST TIME A MAINLAND CHINA ENTREPRENEUR HAD BEEN FEATURED ON THE COVER.
